Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring has welcomed the news by the NRA that it has now agreed that Achill should have additional signage to reflect its importance as a tourism destination.
This follows further consultation between technical representatives from Mayo County Council and the NRA.
The signage falls outside standard traffic signs manual rules as Achill does not have a significant urban area.
However, the NRA has instructed its designers to redesign the signs in line with the revised local authority consultations. They will be implemented on site in due course.
“I am delighted that additional signage will be erected for Achill to reflect its importance as a tourism destination,” said Minister Ring.
