The third annual Clew Bay half marathon will take place on Saturday July 20, starting and finishing in Louisburgh. The race will be run over a variety of landscapes and will feature breathtaking scenery of mountains, boglands, sea, and the islands of Inishturk, Clare Island, and the many other islands of Clew Bay. The course is challenging and exhilarating, its winding roads and ever-changing scenery making it a very enjoyable run.
It is expected that this year’s event will be bigger, more exciting and even more competitive than previously. The race will be chipped timed by Redtag timing.
As previously, ample car parking will be provided along with hot shower facilities after the race. All contestants can enjoy the very popular home-made refreshments and hot and cold drinks after the race.
There are prizes for overall male and female winners as well as category prizes for male and female over 40 and over 50. Registration costs €40 per person. All entrants will receive a top quality technical tee shirt and a finisher’s medal. The race is being organised as a fundraiser for a local astroturf facility as well as local charities.
So why not combine the race with a visit to beautiful Louisburgh or use it as a training race for GaelForce West. The Clew Bay half marathon is an event not to be missed.
