A series of memorial walks is due to take place across Mayo and Roscommon on Sunday July 14 in memory of friends and loved ones who are no longer with us. The event is being organised by Mayo Roscommon Hospice and Kavanagh’s SuperValu as part of the ongoing Help us to Help Others Campaign. These walks will bring people of all ages and from all walks of life together to remember that special someone and celebrate his/her life by walking in his/her memory. All are welcome to join in this event.
The Mayo locations confirmed for the walks are Westport, Castlebar, Claremorris and Kiltimagh, with walks also taking place in Roscommon town and Ballaghaderreen. Each walk will consist of a 5km or 10km route option and there will be a short memorial service before the walk commences in each area so that you can take a few moments to remember the person/s in whose memory you are walking.
Mayo Roscommon Hospice is fundraising for a €13 million development which consists of a 14-bed unit in Castlebar and an eight-bed unit in Roscommon. The Kavanagh SuperValu Group in Mayo has pledged to raise the €100,000 needed to buy the site.
Registration costs €20 and forms are available in the four Kavanagh SuperValu stores in Mayo - Castlebar, Westport, Kiltimagh, and Claremorris, in the hospice shops Mayo and Roscommon, and online at www.hospice.ie
