Looking to borrow? Ballyhaunis Credit Union are looking to lend

While the credit crunch is gripping the world, and businesses and individuals are struggling to get credit from banks, the message from Ballyhaunis Credit Union is that they have money to lend.

Pat O’Connor, treasurer and founding member of Ballyhaunis Credit Union, showed off the state-of-the-art facility they officially opened in May of this year to members of the Claremorris electoral area committee on Tuesday.

The committee held their monthly meeting in the credit union’s highly impressive boardroom which overlooks Clare Street with a view up towards the square.

“We are proud of what we have here. We were on Main Street for a long time and we decided to move and when we did it would be for life,” Mr O’Connor told local elected representatives and council officials.

The boardroom, which is available to the public to rent for meetings, receptions, etc., opens up into an impressive conference room which can comfortably cater for over 100 people.

But the more important message from Mr O’Connor was that the credit union have money to lend. The Ballyhaunis facility have professionalised their set-up with a full-time manager in situ and with assets of over €20 million Ballyhaunis Credit Union, and credit unions in general, are only too happy to do business during the current economic climate.
