After putting draft signage bye-laws out for public consultation and no member of the public making any submission on the new bye-laws, the elected members of Ballina Town Council gave the local authority the go-ahead this week. The new bye-laws will restrict the size and type of material used in signage around the town and also force those who are looking to put up temporary signs to get a permit from the town council or face a fine for not doing so. All of the members agreed that it was a start to try to curb illegal and unsightly signs in the town and welcomed the progress the bye-laws had made.
