As part of the national Europe Day celebrations, on May 9, the pupils of Craggagh National School took part in the countrywide Shake Hands for Europe initiative.
Pupils were asked to wish each other a happy Europe Day as they joined together in a group handshake. This handshake aimed to acknowledge the diversity and solidarity that exists amongst the classmates who are ultimately all connected together as citizens of the EU.
The handshake marks the school’s participation in the Blue Star Programme, a national Irish primary school programme which aims to foster better understanding and knowledge of the European Union and how it affects the lives of its citizens through classroom projects and activities.
The schoolchildren also held a European Fair showcasing their project work with digital presentations, videos, games, food sampling and music. They also launched their Blue Star Project website www.CraggaghBlueStar.wordpress.com
