Coiste Cultúr Teanga agus Forbartha Thuar Mhic Éadaigh Teo (Halla Tourmakeady ) recently launched its welcome to Tuar Mhic Éadaigh for pupils who attended the following schools in Tourmakeady: SN Páirc a Doire; SN Ghleann Mheasc; SN Gleann Sál An Mainistir; SN An tSraith; SN An Trian; SN Choill a tSidheáin; SNThuar Mhic Éadaigh (formerly SN An Trianláir; ) SN Fhionnaithe; SN Sheanafearracháín; Coláiste; and Coláiste Muire.
Everyone is invited to join in events taking place over the three-day Whit weekend, starting Friday May 31 in Tourmakeady Hall, with a four-course dinner with wine, followed by dancing to live music. Special guests on the night include Atlantic Rhythm Productions. Tickets for the evening costing €25 each are available now.
On Saturday June 1, there will be a visit to the schools, which will be followed by a visit to see a demonstration on a working hill sheep farm to see border collie sheepdogs herding Connemara Blackface sheep. This will be followed by evening entertainment in Marie Luke’s.
On June 2 at 11.30am Sunday Mass for all school pupils past and present will be celebrated. At 2pm a community open day will take place in Halla Tourmakeady with demonstrations of past traditional activities (such as basket making, carding/weaving, crochet/knitting, patchwork, butter making, woodturning and so on ). Local produce and crafts will be on display and there will be memorabilia, entertainment, a barbecue, and bouncy castle. A great afternoon out for all the family.
