Safefood has announced that a local Mayo community food initiative is one of nine all island recipients to receive funding for the Community Food Initiatives Programme 2013-15, which aims to positively influence the eating habits of families in low income communities. Eat Wise Project is an initiative by Mayo North East LEADER which will proactively engage with disadvantaged communities in Ballina to encourage and support people to make informed decisions about their diet and that of their families.
Each Community Food Initiative will receive funding annually over a period of three years to set up, manage, and sustain their project, with Safefood investing up to €45,000 per project.
