Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring has warmly welcomed the announcement of funding to a number of harbours in County Mayo under the Harbours Scheme from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
€112,500 has been allocated to Bundorragha to widen and extend the existing pier and construct a new slipway. Newport Quay has been approved €112,500 to repair sea walls and Saleen has been allocated €112,500 to reconstruct pier walls and resurface deck.
Ballina Deputy Michelle Mulherin has also welcomed the announcement of €90,000 for the upgrade and improvement of facilities at Killala Pier. The funding will be used to improve health and safety and enhance facilities at the pier which are used by local fishermen, the local Coast Guard, leisure craft, and for angling tourism in the area.
