Prepare to be uplifted when Rocks’n’Roses choir debuts at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Tuesday May 7 and Wednesday May 8 at 8pm. Established in September 2012 at Rock Rose House in Castlebar, Rocks ‘n’ Roses is a choir for people who have had a cancer diagnosis. The members of the choir are from all around County Mayo, and they come together every Wednesday to practise, guided by their musical director, Belcarra native Kathy Fahey. In the short time of being together, the choir has covered many genres, and from this Kathy has picked a collection of songs that are lively, easy to sing along with and, most of all, fun. Special guests appearing on both nights will include the Mayo Gospel Choir. This will be the first time that Rocks'n'Roses has performed in front of an audience, and by doing so, the members will ably demonstrate how they have grown in confidence, and also prove that life can be good after a serious illness, gaining new energy and new friends along the way.
