Noel Hoban sings for Suicide Awareness

Noel Hoban is launching his country album in the Fáilte Suite, Welcome Inn Hotel, Castlebar, next Friday, April 5 at 9.30pm. Noel has turned his hand to song writing to encourage more men to talk about their problems and to receive counselling from the Mayo Suicide Liaison Project. All proceeds from the CD will go to the Mayo Suicide Liaison Project, which is based in the Family Centre, Castlebar. Joining Noel on the night will be a number of surprise guests on what promises to be a great night of entertainment.

Fund-raising play in aid of Charlestown Athletic

The Carracastle/Kilmovee Drama Group will be staging a production of The Maiden Aunt in St Bridget’s Hall, Tubbercurry, on Saturday April 6 and Sunday April 7 in aid of Charlestown Athletic FC. The show will start at 8pm each night and tickets cost €10 per adult and €5 per child.

Ballymena Male Voice Choir come to Castlebar

The Seven Towers Male Voice Choir from Ballymena in County Antrim will be performing at Christ Church, Castlebar, on Saturday April 6 at 8.15pm. The choir sings a wide range of secular and sacred music, both classical and modern. They will be performing to raise funds for the restoration of Christ Church, Castlebar, and tickets cost €10. Fundraising night for Mayo Women’s Support Services

Mayo Women’s Support Services (MWSS ) will be hosting a night of music in the Wyatt Hotel, Westport, on Friday, April 19 at 8.30pm. Music will be performed by Joanne Keegan, Olcan Masterson, Brian Duffy and Dave Ellis, What the Funk, and Ceide. Admission is €10 for the waged and €6 for the unwaged

Stunning theatre double at the Linenhall

Starring actor par excellence Pat Kinevane, Fishamble Theatre Company presents two dazzling nights of theatre at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar: Forgotten on Wednesday April 10, at 8pm, and Silent on Thursday April 11, at 8pm.

Written and performed by Pat Kinevane in a tour de force double bill directed by Jim Culleton, these two plays seethe with energy and passion, and are presented by Fishamble, a multi-award winning Irish company dedicated to the discovery, development, and production of new work for the theatre.

Folk fiction at Museum of Country Life

On Saturday April 6 from 2pm to 4pm join artist Gareth Kennedy, Castlebar’s Men Shed, Mayo Arts Squad, and Craobh Eo for a talk and launch of a short film documenting their recent collaborative project. The team made a spinning wheel specific to the west of Ireland using IKEA furniture as raw material.
