Two day bazaar

A two day bazaar will take place on March 23 and 24 at St Anne’s Boxing Club, James Street Car Park, Westport. Doors open at 10.30am. All proceeds for United Christian Aid Moldova whose projects this year include sending a truck with aid to Moldova and providing 120 poor kids in Moldova with a hot meal each day

Easter egg hunt in Belcarra

A cake sale and Easter egg hunt on Sunday March 31 at 10.30am at Belcarra Community Centre. There will be a raffle and spot prizes. Proceeds in aid of Belcarra Sports Centre and Hand in Hand children’s cancer charity.

Westport Civic Trust talk

Back, by popular request, will be professor Dáibhí Ó Cróinín of NUI Galway to continue his exposition on early Irish history. His last lecture on the foundation of Mayo Abbey concluded with the year AD664 and many issues unresolved. Talk in Louisburgh

On Easter Monday, April 1 at 8.30pm, Louisburgh HQ is presenting the first in their series of talks for 2013 at the HQ building. Journalist Nick Harman, who presented Panorama on the BBC, will talk about the parish and some history.

25th anniversary of the Passion Play

Ballintubber Abbey presents the 25th anniversary of the Passion Play. The play will be held on Monday March 25, Tuesday March 26 and Wednesday March 27 at 9pm. As it takes place outdoors you are advised to bring suitable clothing.

Course on dreams

Family fun day for Aware

An Easter party will take place on Saturday March 30 in the Breaffy House Sports Arena in Castlebar, from 2pm to 5pm. This year’s event is in aid of Aware, a charity which helps those affected by depression. The event is a family fun day with an Easter egg hunt, bouncy castles, kids disco, pet farm by Horkans Petworld and Mayo ISPCA, and lots of free Easter eggs.

Pilgrimage

Table quiz in Ballina

Tonight (March 22 ) a table quiz takes place in the Loft Bar, Pearse Street, Ballina at 9pm. This is a huge effort to assist local man James Geraghty of Molloy’s Lifestyle Pharmacy to raise funds for both Temple Street Hospital and Mayo/Roscommon Hospice, as he embarks on the world's toughest race, Les Sables Marathon, in the Sahara Desert.

A fun night is on the cards with great raffle prizes and also prizes for 1st and 2nd placed quiz teams. €20 per table of four.

Ballinrobe Tidy Towns

Local residents are requested to support the twice weekly town centre clean-ups and the annual approach roads clean-ups. The next town centre clean-up is on Easter Sunday (meet at 9.30am at Cornmarket ). The first approach road clean-up of the season is on the Castlebar Road on Good Friday (meet at 10am at the old church ).

IWA ask for your support

Please support the Irish Wheelchair Association services in Mayo by participating in the West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon on Sunday May 5.

All funds raised in Mayo stay in Mayo. Services provided in Mayo include social clubs in Castlebar, Claremorris and Ballina. People from other towns like Westport, Swinford, Ballyhaunis, Foxford and Ballinrobe also attend their centres and are transported there by way of IWA fully accessible buses. They also provide holiday services and personal assistant services to people with physical disabilities in Mayo.
