Castlebar businessman hosts concert for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin

Music lovers are in for a treat on Saturday April 27 when local Castlebar businessman Walter Donoghue hosts an evening of liturgical music and song in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Entitled All in an April Evening the concert features some of Mayo’s best known choirs including the Kiltimagh based Cill Aodhan Choral Society and the Mayo Youth Girls Choir under the baton of Finola Higgins-Cosgrove.

Ireland’s leading boys’ choir, the Palestrina Boys Choir, who performed for the Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in Rome in January, will also travel to Castlebar to perform at the event.

Concert goers can expect to hear some musical gems and this promises to be an evening not to be missed.

Walter, who is well known in Mayo musical circles for his show stopping performances in various pantomimes, musicals, and dramas will also perform on the night.

Making it a family occasion, Walter will be joined by his sisters Stephanie, Breda, and Connie for a musical family reunion for this special concert.

The concert is in support of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin where Walter had occasion to attend last year with his baby daughter.

“Attending Crumlin with our daughter last year opened my eyes to this wonderful institution and the dedicated doctors and nurses who treat our sick children every day of the week. We were so grateful that our story had such a happy outcome that we wanted to help the hospital’s fundraising activities,” says Walter who is calling on all families in Mayo to support the concert.

“We’ve kept tickets at an affordable price of €10 per person so that all members of a family could attend and enjoy the concert while raising funds for this very worthwhile cause,” concluded Walter.

The concert commences at 8.30pm on Saturday April 27 and tickets are available in advance from Walter Donoghue, Moneen, Castlebar; Downtown Records Castlebar and Westport; Clarkes Convenience Store, Ballina; Walkins Gift Shop, Ballinrobe; and La Belle Femme, Claremorris.
