Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook in aid of Western Care

Details of the line up for the Chefs of Mayo fundraising event in support of Western Care’s service for young adults at Lower Lakelands, Manulla, Castlebar, have been announced.

Local Castlebar stalwarts Brendan Henaghan, Mayor of Castlebar, and Oliver Kelleher, president of Castlebar Chamber will face off in a Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook contest in the Welcome Inn Hotel, Castlebar, on Friday April 19.

The extent of Mayor Henaghan’s culinary expertise is unknown at present but as the proprietor of Henaghan's Health Food Centre, Ellison Street, Castlebar he is likely to pull a few surprises out of the bag! Oliver Kelleher, who is very involved in the catering industry through business, is also an accomplished cook and was involved in the RTÉ TV series Heat a number of years ago.

The Chefs of Mayo Club has held many fundraising events since its foundation in 1994 and has raised more than €200,000 for various local charities. These events are always a pleasure to attend as the very best in local produce and entertainment is presented on the night. As well as Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook the event in the Welcome Inn Hotel will include cookery demonstrations and a tasting buffet followed by music and dancing with Padraig Durkan.
