Enda Kenny to lead Mayo Pink Ribbon Cycle

Calling all cyclists, leisure cyclists, pleasure cyclists, and aspiring cyclists. The Mayo Pink Ribbon Cycle on Bank Holiday Saturday May 4 has a route for you. This year there are three different routes in three different distances – 50k, 110k, and 175k. That is something to suit everyone in the friendliest cycling event in the west, which will once again be led by its patron, Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

All routes start and finish in Castlebar town centre and are well marshalled and organised so everyone can just relax and enjoy themselves. The event is a leisure cycle, not a race, so there is no pressure on participants, just the pleasure of taking part and the sheer joy of finishing. Throughout the day cyclists are well supported with water/ fruit stops and lunch, and to crown it all there is a banquet that evening where participants and new friends can swap stories of the day. There is no entry fee but as the cycle is a fundraising event for breast cancer research all entrants are asked to raise a minimum of €100 for this very worthy cause.

Money raised through Mayo Pink Ribbon goes to the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI ) in Galway University. See www.mayopinkribbon.ie for further details.
