Table quiz
A table quiz in aid of Chernobyl Children International will be held in Bosh on Tuesday March 19 at 9pm.
Cost for a table of four is €40, and a raffle will be held on the night. All support is greatly appreciated.
IWA Mayo
Please support IWA services in Mayo by participating in the West of Ireland Women’s Mini Marathon on Sunday May 5.
All funds raised in Mayo stay in Mayo. Services provided in Mayo include social clubs in Castlebar, Claremorris, and Ballina. People from other towns like Westport, Swinford, Ballyhaunis, Foxford, and Ballinrobe also attend their centres and are transported there by way of IWA fully accessible buses. It also provides holiday services and personal assistant services to people with physical disabilities in Mayo.

Claremorris parade
Claremorris promises to host the most colourful and spectacular St Patrick’s Day parade ever, thanks to its main sponsor, St Coleman’s Credit Union.
Claremorris St Patrick’s Day parade will be officially opened by Jimmy Flynn, president of the Chamber of Commerce at 2pm. The theme of this year’s parade is The Gathering.
The pre-parade street entertainment will start at 1pm and will be performed by Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Éireann, the MaSamba Samba Band from Dublin, and the Tall Bicycles who will provide exciting entertainment for all ages. There will also be French markets on the day and children’s entertainment.

Autism awareness information evening
This will take place at Cúram Family Centre on Wednesday March 13 from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
A presentation by Western Care will include myths and facts, definition of the word autism, criteria of diagnosis, sensory differences, what the person with autism experiences differently, questions and answers.
The discussions will be augmented with video clips from the perspective of people with autism. All are welcome. Booking is essential on 094 936 2096 by Monday March 11.
International Women’s Day
Claremorris Women’s Group is celebrating International World Women’s Day today, Friday March 8 at 7.30pm in Cúram Family Centre. Go along and experience international cuisine, music, and fun. A night of celebration for all women.
WhistleBlast Quartet
The WhistleBlast Quartet will visit Castlebar with a completely new and exciting three-day outreach/concert programme that will involve up to 200 children at St Patrick’s Boys’ National School.
A group from the school will perform a short piece of their own composition as part of the final free concert on Wednesday March 13 at 6.30pm. This concert is for the whole community and for all ages and it will feature the WhistleBlast Quartet.
Brackloon reunion
The next meeting of Brackloon reunion will take place in MacSiurtain’s Bar, Main Street, Ballyhaunis, on Friday March 15, at 9pm.
BTFC registration
Ballina Town FC is having a second registration night on Tuesday March 12 from 7pm to 9pm in the clubhouse.

Erris Players
Erris Players present Moll by John B Keane, in Bangor Erris Hall tomorrow (Saturday ) at 8pm.
This comedy is a hilarious look at rural Irish parochial house, giving an insight into who is truly running local affairs in a fictional parish. Admission €10.
Men’s shed
The Ballyhaunis Men’s Shed Group continues to meet once a week on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm in the Friary House at the Augustinian Abbey. New members have been attending and any man over 18 years is welcome.
The Mayo Abbey fun run/walk
The event will take place on Sunday March 10 from Mayo Gaels GAA clubhouse, Mayo Abbey.
Registration is from 11.30am with the event due to start at 1pm. It is an 8K or 4K event.

Trialogue is an open forum for discussion on mental health issues.
The group meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm in the Parish Centre, Castlebar, opposite the entrance to the church car-park.

Westport Civic Trust
The trust’s illustrated talk Fluid frontiers: Ireland and the Roman world in the first to fifth centuries AD will be given by Dr Ger Dowling of The Discovery Programme and will be held on Tuesday March 12 at 8pm at The Atlantic Coast Hotel.

Crossmolina GAA Club
A fundraiser will take place on Sunday March 17 in Hiney's Crossmolina at 8pm. It will commence with the Crossmolina Cube gameshow, followed by a disco.
€1,000 prize money will be handed out on the night.

Westport parade 2013

5K in Carrowholly
Carrowholly Community Development Group has organised a 5K fun run and walk on Bank Holiday Monday March 18 around the Carrowholly area.
A children's race is planned for 11am, this race is confined to national school children only. The 5K race is due to start at 12 noon and registration will take place from 9am until 11.30am at Carrowholly NS. Strictly no dogs are allowed in the 5k this year.

The next GIY meeting will take place on Monday March 11 at 7.30pm in the Le Cheile FRC, Tucker Street, Castlebar. If you are thinking of growing some of your own food this year it could be a good place to help you get started.
Kilmovee race
The annual Kilmovee race takes place on March 30 at 1pm commencing from the GAA Grounds in Kilmovee. The race now in its fourth year, is being organised by Kilmovee Shamrocks with proceeds to Mayo Roscommon Hospice Specialist Palliative Care Service.

Event workshop in Westport
Westport Town Council will be holding a free one day workshop for festival and event organisers on Monday March 11. The aim of this workshop is to provide organisers with the tools to maximise the benefits and minimise the environmental impacts of holding such events.
There will be speakers from AOIFE (Association of Irish Festival Events ), The Environmental Office, Mayo County Council, Leave No Trace, and Volunteer Mayo on the day.
Colm Croffy is the executive director of the Association of Irish Festivals and Events (AOIFE ) and will facilitate the workshop on the day.
