Case adjourned until man takes his driving test

A man who was detected driving on a first provisional licence while unaccompanied had his case adjourned in order that the Ballina man sits his driving test and passes it.

Garda Martin McNicholas was conducting a checkpoint on December 15 2012 at 7.20am in the area of Rehins, Ballina. The garda stopped Rory Langdon, 34 Ferran Terrace, Ballina, who was driving unaccompanied on his first provisional licence.

The court heard that the 32-year-old father has previous road traffic convictions dating back to 2007. Langdon told the court that he only got his provisional licence last year.

Judge Mary Devins said that the defendant has been “flying about the roads for at least six years, why has he not applied for a driving test?” Judge Devins adjourned the case to make sure that the defendant passes his driving test. It was adjourned for mention to September 10.
