A 27-year-old man who pushed a garda out of his way before he absconded was before Ballina District Court on Tuesday for the obstruction of a garda.
On March 27 2012 after 12.30am gardaí were called to a disturbance at St Muredach’s Terrace, Ballina. Thomas McDonagh, 28 Esker Pines, Ballyhaunis, was observed roaring and shouting in the street. McDonagh was also observed urinating in the street. When he told he was being arrested he pushed the garda out of the way and ran into a nearby house. Gardaí could not locate him after.
The married father of four, who has 13 previous convictions, has limited his alcohol intake and has not been in trouble since January 2008.
Judge Mary Devins adjourned the case for sentencing to November 26.
