Danske Bank has appointed Ballina native Sean MacHale as head of its financial institutions group, UK and Ireland. He will be responsible for managing clients engaged in regulated activities, such as banks, insurers, asset managers, investment firms or pension funds.
Mr MacHale joins Danske Bank from HSBC, where he has worked since 2008 as head of global markets for Ireland. He had previously worked for three years in client risk advisory with Barclays Capital and, prior to that, with Bank of Ireland global markets.
Commenting on the appointment, Terry Browne, Danske Bank’s head of corporate and institutional banking, and country manager, Republic of Ireland, said: “I am delighted to welcome Sean to our team. Our financial institutions group is a key area for us, and the addition of an experienced executive such as Sean underlines our commitment to developing this area further. As part of an international group, the scope of this appointment underlines the breadth of our business ambition in attracting strong institutional clients to Danske Bank.”
Originally from Ballina, Sean MacHale attended St Muredach’s College and holds an honours degree in commerce from University College Galway. He is FSA regulated in the UK and is a member of the IACT. He also played football for Ballina Stephenites.
