Case adjourned for year to see if family dispute settles down

A case involving a dispute between double first cousins was adjourned by Judge Mary Devins for a year.

Addressing Ballina District Court, John Gordon solicitor for Martin Collins , 7 Woodville, Killala Road, Ballina—who pleaded guilty to being in possession of an article with the intent to cause injury and criminal damage—said that his client admits breaking the windscreen of John Collins’ car, for which he has paid compensation. Mr Gordon said that the row between the cousins has now settled down and he asked the judge to consider that perhaps it would be appropriate if the case is adjourned for a year to see if there are no more incidents between the families.

Solicitor Denis Molloy who represented John and Lena Collins, 5 Millview Crescent, Ballina—who deny being threatening and abusive—said that his clients are happy to go along with this.

Judge Devins adjourned the case to February 11 2014.
