Last weekend of Paddy Lamb exhibition in Westport

The exhibition of paintings by Paddy Lamb entitled Memory of Absence will wrap up its run at the Custom House Studios in Westport this Sunday evening, February 17.

Using landscape as a foundation, and regardless of specific location, Paddy Lamb’s paintings and drawings continue an exploration of several themes. His approach is strongly influenced by history, social culture, and memory. It is also affected by his relationship with Ireland and western Canada, offering up differences and similarities in terms of geography and history and adding a personal narrative based on his own circumstances as both an emigrant and an immigrant.

Paddy Lamb grew up in the city of Armagh, Northern Ireland, where he attended Armagh Royal School. He studied modern history at Trinity College, Dublin, before moving to western Canada in 1985. Here he completed a graduate degree in physical education at the University of Alberta. His subsequent work as an athlete, coach, sports administrator, historian and archivist, have all influenced his present career.
