The Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS ) in south Mayo has seen demand for its service double in the period 2007 to 2010. As a result of this increased demand the service has had to recruit additional staff and move to a larger location in Castlebar.
On Monday, February 18, at 10.30am, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny will officially open the new office of South Mayo MABS at Nephin Halls, Hopkins Road, Castlebar.
The service is free of charge and deals only with personal debt.
South Mayo MABS was established in 1999 to cover all of south Mayo from Ballyhaunis in the east of the county to Achill and Ballycroy in the west and southwards to Shrule. While the main office is situated in Castlebar, appointments are available at the following outreach locations: Achill, Claremorris, Kiltimagh, Ballyhaunis, Westport, Ballinrobe, Louisburgh, and the GMIT. The service is available to all individuals and families in the catchment area who are in financial difficulties or are in danger of becoming so.
