Maloney confirms intention to run in local election

Foxford Fianna Fáil Councillor Jimmy Maloney has confirmed that he will run in the upcoming local elections.

Following the Tanaiste’s visit to Foxford on Friday November 21, Cllr Maloney has confirmed that he is putting his name “firmly” on the ticket for next June’s local elections, despite any speculation to the contrary.

Cllr Maloney was unanimously selected to run at the Foxford CC.

When asked about his decision to run again he said: “I have given a lot of consideration to my decision to run again and I have been asked by many party members and constituents to run again.

“I have represented Foxford, Swinford, Kiltimagh and surrounding areas for over 18 years and while we have achieved a lot I feel there is considerably more to be done. I have worked hard and will continue to work hard on behalf of those who have supported me. Foxford, Swinford and Kiltimagh are growing from strength to strength and I wish to play my role in ensuring that these towns move forward and are considered for funding at all levels. I feel that I have more to offer and want to see through to completion the projects I have participated in.”

In addition Cllr Maloney has announced that under the Social and Economic Fund Bohola village will receive €130,000 in funding. This funding will be used for an astro track, basketball court and for renovation works to the community centre. Contracts have already been signed and Cllr Maloney has congratulated the committee involved for all their hard work towards achieving this milestone.
