The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a challenge to the validity of compulsory acquisition orders for the Corrib gas pipeline project in Mayo.
The court ruled that four opponents of the project—Philip McGrath, James B Philbin, Willie Corduff and Bríd McGarry— did not bring their challenge within prescribed time limits.
In 2005, Shell brought legal actions against a number of people who obstructed the project. The residents brought a counterclaim to the injunction proceedings.
Justice Frank Clarke dismissed the challenge to the compulsory acquisition orders on the grounds that it was out of time under court rules.
