A man who dropped a €20 worth of cocaine in front of a garda was given the benefit of the probation act in Ballinrobe District Court this week following an adjournment in the sentencing of his case for a probation report.
The court heard on Tuesday that Tony Gannon, Drumelly, Cross—whose case was heard in October of this year—has since remained off drugs and continues to be in employment with a construction company. Gannon told Judge Mary Devins that his earlier appearance in court was an “utter shock” to his parents and that he would never take drugs again. Judge Devins ordered that the defendant pay €400 to the Alzheimer’s Association and applied the probation act, however warning him to “stay off the drugs”.
