Men on the Move activity programme now in Castlebar

Worried about that extra weight? Thinking about getting more active? Want to improve your overall health and wellbeing?

Mayo Sports Partnership in collaboration with HSE West, Castlebar Men’s Shed and Le Cheile Family Resource Centre are offering a new programme for men aged 35 and over in the coming weeks in the Castlebar area.

Mid West Radio are also rowing in with the initiative and will be calling for men to participate in the eight week programme which will culminate in a “Men on the Move” five kilometre walk/run at a date to be arranged.

An open evening is being organised, where men can come along and get a free health check (from 6.30pm ), information on healthy eating and sign up to an activity programme. The open night for the Castlebar area takes place in GMIT (old Westport Road ) on Monday, January 21, at 7.30pm.

Programmes on offer include walking, jogging, cycling and there is no cost to the participant. There will be leaders there on the night to answer any question that you may have about any of the proposed activities.

Following the tremendous success of the programme in Ballina, Westport, Claremorris and Erris this initiative is being coordinated in Castlebar in conjunction with the Castlebar Men’s Shed which is a local community development programme for men which is in operation all year round.

If you wish to register for the initiative please call Mayo Sports Partnership on 094 904 7025, email [email protected] or text your name to 087 697 3093.

So get out there and get active and be part of this super programme.
