It’s party season, and time to turn on the style for the many events this December. Maria Conneely of Platinum Hairdressing in Castlebar gives some ideas on glamorous hair trends.
Party looks for 2008 are keeping with the "femme fatale" tress trends seen on the catwalks and the red carpet. Gorgeous feminine sexy hair is one of the key looks of the season. Fifties glamour is evident in magazines and celebrity circles this winter. We are seeing rich chocolate, black cherry, and intense plum shades. Reds have become hugely popular in 2008, from cranberry and cherry shades to firey coppers. Blondes of course never go out of style. Caramel and honey tones give a feminine look to highlights while icy cool precision blondes are still a winner in the style stakes.
Upstyling has really made a comeback this year and is a quick and easy way to reinvent yourself. An elegant upstyle can be the finishing touch to a party outfit. Backcombing will add height and give extra hold, side-swept upstyles are very chic, and add a little Hollywood glamour to complete any party look.
The "volume blowdry" has had another revival. This soft bouncy curl look is versatile, suiting mid-length to longer hair. Seventies-style flicks can also be added to for extra impact.
The sixties beehive is around for another season, loosely pinned with falling curls, or secured tightly it is a classic, timeless style that never seems to date.
GHD curls, summer waves, flicks are here again - trend on trend season after season, their popularity is phenomenal.
