Fianna Fáil councillor Damien Ryan called for the Mayo County Council to look into the possibility of constructing car parking facilities at Lisloughrey Pier. Cllr Ryan said, “This would be a great opportunity to develop proper parking facilities at the pier. Currently there is no proper parking there and in conjunction with the local residents and Corrib navigation, it's something that should be looked into.” Fine Gael councillor Patsy O'Brien said he agreed with Cllr Ryan, but emphasised that consultation with local residents would be a key to such a plan.
