A Polish man who randomly kicked and banged on a 71-year-old woman’s door while he was drunk was before Castlebar District Court this week.
On November 28 2012 at 7.35pm a garda on duty on Chapel Street, Castlebar, observed Emil Szczek, 48 Rossmore, Castlebar, kicking and banging on a door. The defendant then walked up the street and was observed to nearly fall off the footpath. Szczek kicked a sign outside a restaurant and was shouting and roaring. He was arrested for being drunk in a public place. The defendant caused €100 damage to a timber panel on the woman’s door.
The 27-year-old has been in Ireland for three months, is not working and is being supported by his sister. The court heard that the defendant drank vodka that day and was frustrated as he had not been paid for a painting job which he did earlier that day.
The defendant had €100 in court. Judge Denis McLoughlin asked Szczek to pay the €100 as compensation and applied the Probation Act.
