Mayo GAA and the Mayo soccer league are to receive two substantial grants under the 2012 Sports Capital Programme.
Mayo GAA is to receive €200,000 for natural pitch development, fencing, and floodlighting, while the Mayo League Community Stadium Limited at Milebush has been granted €260,000 for artificial pitch development.
These are just two projects from 32 nationally which are to receive grand aid.
The announcements were made by Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring.
Minister Ring stated: “The projects being funded will provide better equipment and facilities for athletes from a wide range of sports to train and compete to the best of their ability.
“This funding is towards projects of national or regional significance and is in addition to the €26m allocated to local projects earlier in December.”
