The 13th annual Candlelight Ball in aid of Western Care was recently launched in Breaffy House Resort by Brendan Henaghan, Mayor of Castlebar, and was attended by Caroline Gordon, chairperson, Castlebar voluntary branch Western Care, the 2013 Candlelight Ball committee, members and supporters of this very significant annual fundraising event.
Ms Gordon thanked everyone involved in organising this event and in particular the sponsors who year after year continue to support by way of donation and gifts and by their attendance at the Candlelight Ball.
Mayor Henaghan said he was delighted to formally launch the Candlelight Ball. He spoke of the long established support Western Care has in Castlebar and throughout Mayo and he re-emphasised the need where possible for everyone to lend their support to this significant fundraising event and indeed to the organisation, which supports some 1,000 people in Mayo with learning and associated disabilities. Cllr Henaghan also acknowledged the lifetime involvement of Johnny Mee, one of the co-founders of Western Care (1966 ).
