Áras Inis Gluaire will host Married to the Sea, a multi-award-winning Irish play, on Sunday December 14.
Married to the Sea, which is written and directed by Shona McCarthy, is a drama set in a Galway seafaring community and it describes the gradual breakdown of superstition-laden family life through the voice of a spirited eight-year-old girl.
Married to the Sea has had a sell-out run at the Galway Arts Festival and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It has toured all over Ireland and enjoyed a hugely successful run at the New York International Fringe Festival, where Siobhán Donnellan won the Outstanding Actor award. Incredibly, it is the first full-length play that Shona McCarthy has written, and it earned her the Fishamble Best New Writing Award at the 2007 Dublin Fringe Festival.
It will be staged at 8pm. Tickets are €15 and concessions are €12. To book your ticket, contact the Áras Inis Gluaire box office at 097 81079.
