Daniel O'Donnell back for special winter show

Daniel O’Donnell returns to Castlebar on Thursday December 11 and is very much looking forward to playing for the first time in the brand new, state-of-the-art Royal Castlebar Theatre and Event Centre. Donegal’s favourite son, Daniel O’Donnell needs no introduction to audiences.

Daniel’s success has spread far beyond his native shores and he is a major figure in the music scene in Europe, North America and the UK. In fact, such has been his impact in Britain that in 2002, he was awarded an honorary MBE for his services to the music industry. However, Daniel himself has declared that the award which he holds dearest to his heart is being named Donegal Person of the Year in 1989. He has had 20 UK Top 40 albums as well as 15 Top 40 singles and has sold ten million albums worldwide.

When it comes to the secret of his success, Daniel has his own theory “I’ve never sung to make money. When I’m performing I never think about how much I’m making on the night. I sing because I love it and the money is just a by-product of what I do. My biggest payment is being on the stage and that is a big part of the secret of my success. If it all ended tomorrow, I couldn’t say there is anything the world could have offered me that is better than what I have.” Daniel is delighted that his good friend Mary Duff will be joining him as a guest star for the concert at the Royal, Castlebar. Tickets are available on www.ticketmaster.ie as well as from the Royal Theatre Box Office on 0818 300000. Ticket price ranges from €41.50.
