Delorentos bring their Bullet in a Gun winter tour to Castlebar

Finbar Hoban presents one of Ireland’s finest touring bands, Delorentos, at the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on Friday night December 28. Having released Little Sparks, one of the most stand-out albums of 2012 with singles such as “Care For” and “Bullet in a Gun”, plus thrilling audiences throughout the summer from Benicassim to Electric Picnic, Delorentos embark on their winter tour.

The Little Sparks album has been hailed as their best music to date with many four and five star reviews. Delorentos have being wooing audiences right throughout the summer months with performances at Sea Sessions, the Independence festival in Cork and Electric Picnic.

Support on the night comes from Mia Sparrow. Since forming in June 2009 Paul and Ger, from Castlebar, and Caroline, from Tipperary, have toured Ireland and played a BlueMusic showcase at the Fiddler's Elbow in Camden Town, London. In 2010, with just a few home recordings under their belt, Mia Sparrow were chosen as one of five acts to play the Best of IMRO showcase in Dublin. They were subsequently invited to record a four-track session for the Dan Hegarty show on RTE 2FM which was broadcast in spring 2011. Having released their debut single, ‘Death of a Decibel’, on Flaming June records in July 2011, the band released their debut album to rave reviews earlier this year.

Kicking the night off will be local Castlebar singer-songwriter Lydia Ford. Castlebar singer Lydia is a second-year media student in NUI Maynooth. In early 2010, Lydia wrote, recorded, and produced a four-song EP, Hearts on Sleeves, from her bedroom using one microphone and some basic recording software. Last year she won Mayo County Council’s Music Recording Assistance Award, which gave her the financial support to record another EP, this time in a real studio. Lydia got to record four tracks with Daniel Loughran (also from Castlebar ) in a studio in Griffith College, Dublin, and the resulting EP, Taking Shortcuts, was officially released in August.

Doors open at 8pm and show commences at 9pm sharp. Tickets are now on sale from the Royal Box office and Downtown Records, Castlebar. For more information go to www.finbarhobanpresents.com
