As part of the school calendar in recent years, Moyne College, Ballina have built in Mind Your Mind, a week which aims to promote positive mental health and well-being This year Moyne College is very privileged to have this event launched by past pupil, popular GAA pundit and former Mayo footballer Kevin McStay, who will speak to students and staff about his own personal experiences.
Mind Your Mind will run from Monday next, December 19 to Friday, December 21; students will experience a range of different activities which are good for their mental health such as kickboxing, relaxation, cookery, craft, sport, karaoke, zumba and much more.
The aim is to introduce alternative activities and experiences to students to give them a little taste of what they can do for themselves to look after their mental health on a day to day basis. Beat The Blues workshops will also be delivered by AWARE to Senior Cycle students which aim to build strength and resilience for the future. Students will learn what mental health means, coping strategies and the importance of expressing oneself and talking to someone. This event will have a major impact on the students' lives as they learn to deal with the experiences life throws at them.
