Another great gala for Ballina Dolphins

The most recent swimming gala took place in Ballina where several Ballina Dolphins swimmers not only took part, but achieved some great times and took home several medals. Amy McGowan had three amazing swims achieving an A time in all three, the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 100m IM. Alex Patten also competed in two swims improving on her times and getting an A time in the 100m freestyle. Heather McGowan had a successful day achieving A times in both the 100m freestyle and the 200m IM.

Kirsty Quinn and Emily Ward both swam in the 100m freestyle and the 200m IM, both achieving an A time in the later and taking home a gold medal for their first swim. Leah Lynn took home two medals, silver for the freestyle and bronze for her IM swim. Eireann O’Boyle swam in two races as well, getting a silver medal in the 200m IM.

Clara Murray, Jane Rafter, Eve Gilmartin, Marie Flynn, Caoimhe Egan, Rachel Moran, Ella Tuffy, Megan Foley, Claire Flynn and Alexandra Sugrue also took part in the competition putting up a great fight and achieving good times.

The boys were represented by Joshua Fortune, James Sugrue, Ruari O’Boyle, Deirmuid Daly, Paul Lynott, Mark Barrett, Lee Gilmartin, Paul Flynn and Jamie Reape. They got some good times as well with Paul Flynn winning a gold medal for the 100m freestyle and James Sugrue taking home a silver medal for his achievement in the 100m IM.

The freestyle relays were the last events taking place on the day. All swimmers competing put up a great fight with the girls u11 and u13 relay teams winning their race, the boys u11 team getting a bronze medal and the girls u11 team finishing fifth in their race.
