When Atlantic Prosthetic Orthotic Services (APOS ) Ltd first opened in 2002, the company employed two prosthetist/orthotists and one technician. Now employing over 13 people at their clinical and manufacturing base in Kilcolgan, Co Galway, APOS Ltd is one of the largest providers of prosthetic and orthotic services in Ireland. The company holds clinics (funded both publicly via HSE and privately ) throughout the country and has clients from both Ireland and abroad.
APOS Ltd is a 100 per cent Irish owned company and the majority of devices supplied are manufactured at their head office in Kilcolgan. All products meet European directives and APOS Ltd is one of only three Irish based service providers to hold an ISO 9001:2008 accreditation.
Specialising in providing a functional solution in the most complex cases: sports injuries; neuromuscular; neurological and rheumatoid conditions; complex foot /ankle conditions; partial foot amputations, and both upper and lower limb amputations are all regular referrals to the clinic. Clinicians can also assist in less involved cases to aid mobility; prevent deformity; reduce fall risk and long term pain of a biomechanical origin.
All clinical and technical staff are highly trained and internationally experienced and are involved in undergraduate training in both Irish and UK universities. The managing director, Breda Clancy, was one of the founding members of APOS Ltd in 2002, and the company has since endeavoured to provide a highly professional, cost effective service to all those referred.
