Athletics enthusiast Jim Ryan from Claremorris has been shortlisted for an award in this years Panadol supported Volunteer Ireland Awards.
Mr Ryan has been shortlisted in the Sports and Recreation category and is one of 31 volunteers shortlisted for the annual awards which celebrate and recognise volunteers across Ireland.
He is coach and chairman at Claremorris Athletics Club and has played a key role in securing funding for the very successful club to have a new track and previously helped to help develop the Claremorris Recreation Centre. He has also worked with Mayo Sports Partnership to introduce athletics to 1,500 children across south and east Mayo over the past three years.
An overall winner and category winners in the Panadol supported initiative will be announced on Wednesday, December 5 at a gala event in Dublin hosted by RTE Presenter Claire Byrne.
