Luisne Art Project celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Luisne Art Project will launch a new exhibition of art with special guest speaker Denis Toomey, manager of the Irish Paralympic Cycling Team.

The event takes place at TACU Family Resource Centre, Credit Union House, Main Street, Ballinrobe, on Monday December 3 from 1pm to 2pm.

The group will launch their new animation and exhibit artwork that inspired its creation.

Luisne Art Project is a disability arts programme developed for members of The Crann Mor Centre, Ballinrobe. The project was founded in 2005 and is now in its seventh year. The group meets every Thursday for arts workshops facilitated by artist Breda Murphy at its art studio in TACU Family Resource Centre, Ballinrobe. Painting is one of the group’s favourite mediums but the participants have also worked extensively with screen print, block printing, drawing, ceramics, stained glass, and book making.

This year, Luisne artists are collaborating with artist and animator, Denise McDonagh, on a project entitled Creation Animation. This is a new and exciting departure for the group. For the first time Luisne artists have entered the world of animation.

On December 3 the animation will be launched with a showing in TACU Family Resource Centre at 1pm. All are welcome to attend. The event will also include an exhibition of artwork produced during the course of the project. This work offers an insight into the development of the final animations.

Refreshments will be provided and feel free to have your own lunch while you share in the celebration.
