Good showing in Leenane by Mayo athletes

The fourth annual Leenane 8k was held last Sunday, November 18. It was run over a tough course in very wintery weather conditions of driving wind and cold rain blowing in from Killary fjord. But the wonderful spread of home-made food and welcome hot soup helped make the effort worthwhile.

John Byrne in a time of 27:30 came home first in a course record, with Robert Malseed in second place in 29:10, and Brendan Gill finished in third place. The women’s race was won by Sarah Syron in a course record of 33:38, with Lara Langan finishing in second in 36:25.
