Social media seminar for sports clubs

Following the very successful club development seminar held earlier this year Mayo Sports Partnership is calling all sports clubs in the region to sign up for the 2012 social media seminar for sports clubs in the Mayo Education Centre, Old Westport Rd, Castlebar, on Wednesday December 5.

Most clubs are aware of Facebook and Twitter but are unsure how to best utilise these free PR tools. This seminar will look at these social media platforms and will show the ease at which people can use them, will highlight the dos and don’ts and outline examples of where ordinary sports clubs have embraced it for positive benefit and how your club can benefit from social media also.

The event will run from 7pm to 9.30pm with the main speaker on the night being Ballinrobe native Liam Horan (sports commentator and ex-journalist at the Irish Independent and RTE ) who will be getting clubs more familiar with the various social media platforms and encouraging them to look at using social media as a promotion and recruitment tool. Attendees should typically be sports club members including administrators, committee members, coaches and volunteers who are involved in the running or governance of sports clubs. Clubs rely on social media these days for build up to games, in terms of communicating their team announcements, fixtures, results, and club events. The seminar aims to inform and guide clubs about this valuable communication tool and hopes to see as many clubs as possible on the day. For more information on the event log onto www.mayosports.ie/news Clubs can register for a fee of €15 per person which includes tea/coffee, free parking, an information pack and supporting material. Places are limited to 20 so early booking is advised. Contact Mayo Sports Partnership at 094 9047025 for further details.
