André Rieu Home for Christmas at Mayo Movie World

André Rieu will make a special live appearance by satellite from Maastricht, introducing his festive Christmas concert, and cinema audiences will have the opportunity to participate in a special hosted live Q & A prior to the concert screening. This performance will take place tomorrow, Saturday November 24 at 5pm in Mayo Movie World, Castlebar.

The Home for Christmas programme is filmed primarily at Rieu’s house, a romantic medieval castle in his hometown of Maastricht in The Netherlands. Together with his Johann Strauss Orchestra, soloists and choir, André performs 26 holiday classics in his snowy, beautifully decorated garden and Saint Pierter Church across the street from his home. Relaxing by his fireplace, André tells a Christmas tale and shares with the audience how he celebrates Christmas at home.

Home for Christmas includes special guest performances by The Royal Choir Society Mastreechter Staar, The Sjamaes Children’s Choir and 10-year-old ballerina Rosa. The romantic celebration of Christmas ranges from Christmas classics to well-loved ballads.

Known for his energetic and festive live performances, André Rieu is affectionately known as the King of Waltz to his international audiences, with album sales of more than 30 million. In 2010 Rieu sold more concert tickets than any other male artist internationally, beating Bruce Springsteen to the number one spot.
