Sixmilebridge Folk Club Festival band from Co Clare will join forces with the Banjaxed Bluegrass Band to tour the Castlebar area Mayo from the today, Friday November 16 to November 18. Up to 30 musicians, singers and friends from the club will converge on the villages of Belcarra, Balla and Westport to promote the Shannonside Winter Music Weekend which takes place in Sixmilebridge and Bunratty, Clare from January 17 through 20, 2013.
The Mayo tour starts in Flukies of Belcarra at 9.30pm on Friday night where the trad session will be hosted by well known local fiddle player John Kilkenny. The music continues on Saturday at 2pm in Matt Molloy’s where the Banjaxed Bluegrass Band meet up with Tim Rodgers and friends for a jam session. Saturday night features the Banjaxed Bluegrass Band in Breaffy House Hotel at 9.30pm and the traditionalists will join forces with Tom Lyons and friends to play a folk/trad gig in Mannion’s of Balla. They will all meet up for a farewell session in Flukies at 1pm on Sunday while the Banjaxed Bluegrass Band will take to the stage again in Mannion's at 3pm Sunday afternoon. All events are free so it would be well worth your while going out to catch some of the festival atmosphere created by this band of entertaining musicians from the Banner county.
