Westport
A nine minute documentary about Westport Golf Club was posted on YouTube last week. The New Zealand film crew visited Carrowholly during the summer and unfortunately the day was slightly overcast. Gar Golden and Alex Mealia play a central role in the video clip commenting on the history of the club and giving an overview of the championship course. It would be remiss not to mention Padraic Duffy's score of 51pts in last week’s senior competition. Such a score, even under ‘winter rules’ in Westport, is a magnificent round of golf and to break the magical 50 point stableford barrier for the first time this century in a club competition can certainly be described as a truly remarkable sporting accomplishment.
