Castlebar woman Joanne Maloney has been nominated for a Charity Hero Award for 2012. This is a national public voting competition therefore it is monumental that a local woman has generated such support for her voluntary efforts.
In dealing with her own challenges, Ms Maloney created a book for The Irish Cancer Society called Quoted Moments, which has already raised in excess of €10,000 and was launched by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny last July.
Joanne Maloney organises an annual masquerade ball for the charity with this year’s event being held in Breaffy House Events Arena on December 15. She was also a committee member of Relay for Life in Castlebar, which raised in excess of €48,000.
