Richie Heneghan live at the Linenhall

Mayo-based musicians Richie Heneghan, Patrick Doocey, and Stephen Doherty present an evening of folk music at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Thursday, November 15 at 8pm.

Singing for more than 20 years, Castlebar man Richie Heneghan’s voice is as recognisable as it is pleasing to the ear. Also an accomplished bass guitar player, for this very special show Richie showcases his own favourite genre of stories told through traditional and more contemporary folk music. Accompanying him on the night will be two fine young musicians, Foxford-based Boston-born guitarist and fiddle player Patrick Doocey, who has toured in Europe and America with various groups including the Swallows Tail Céilí band, and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Doherty from Foxford. Acclaimed as an “effortless musician”, Stephen features on a long list of recordings, and in the past year he has shared the stage with the likes of Lúnasa, Sean Keane, Dougie MacLean, Michael McGoldrick and Dermot Byrne, and has recorded in Nashville with Alison Brown and Tim O’Brien, and has also featured on RTÉ’s Nationwide. An evening that is a must for anyone with an interest in “stories told through great songs new and old”.
