Galway group bring two one act comedies to Mayo this weekend

Drama fans in Ballina, Belmullet and Kiltimagh are set for a treat this weekend when Claregalway-based drama group Compántas Lir bring two comedies to each of the venues. The two-play offering opens tonight (Friday , October 26 ) at Kiltimagh Town Hall, Saturday night (October 27 ) at Ballina Arts Centre and Sunday night (October 28 ) in Aras Inis Guaire in Belmullet.

Compántas Lir a multi award winning theatre group from Claregalway presents The Autumn Theatre, two back to back one act comedies. Double Take is written by Belmullet native Clement Shevlin. The play tells the story of Charlie and his long suffering wife who are awaiting the birth of their first grandchild. However Charlie is also awaiting news of a prized horse who has also gone into labour…It’s difficult to tell who’s who or what’s what in this farce. In the other comedy for the night, Aunt Matilda is coming to dinner…unwanted. Will George’s evening be ruined as it always is on her annual visit or will Aunt Matida make it at all? This run sold out in 2011 so you are advised to book your tickets early. See them this weekend, all shows start at 8.30pm and tickets are €10, and are available on the door of each venue.
