The Quay School in Westport recently marked Maths Week with a wide range of activities which were suitable for all classes.
These workshops were co-ordinated by Mrs Ann Lally (teacher ) and implemented by the pupils of fourth class.
Many worthwhile and unusual activities took place during the week all of which led to a greater understanding of the everyday uses of mathematical concepts. Several maths trails were organised around the school grounds and children had to follow detailed mathematical clues to find solutions.
Children in junior classes took part in a variety of games on the playground and in the school hall which had some mathematical content.
