The cream of Irish folk performers including Sean Keane, Johnny Duhan, Charlie McGettigan and many more will perform at the Royal Theatre, Castlebar on Wednesday next, October 24 with all the proceeds going to St Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar. The night called Festival Folk promises to be an evening of ‘Ceol agus Craic’ for all.
The MC on the night will be well-known and respected songwriter, performer and outstanding broadcaster Charlie McGettigan, who will also perform. Festival Folk will bring together the premier of Ireland’s folk and traditional talent under the roof of the Royal Theatre for two or more hours of music listening pleasure and chat.
Also on the bill on the night are the amazing traditional band Rig The Jig and contemporary folk artists Louise Killeen (featuring Brendan Emmett ), Valerie Armstrong, St Angela’s Grúpa Ceoil and St Joseph’s Traditional Group. The night’s entertainment will also feature the 250 strong choir of St Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar. Surely wonderfully appealing even on its own to witness on the night.

School principal Marie Mac Cabe says: “We wanted to fund-raise in a way that would benefit those receiving as well as those that are giving. This fund-raising will support us in ensuring that our girls will continue to be exposed to a variety of rich experiences during their time in St Joseph’s. We are very excited about this event and know it’s going to be a very entertaining night for the musicians involved and for all in attendance”
