The House that Jack Filled is Ready for Roolaboola

You may know him best as Dieter Langer in RTÉ’s Killinascully, but actor Louis Lovett is more than just a German cheese seller from the television. He is in fact one of Ireland’s most experienced and critically acclaimed performers for children, and he is currently starring in Theatre Lovett’s superb new theatrical experience for young people, The House that Jack Filled, which will be staged as part of the Linenhall Arts Centre’s, Roolaboola, Children’s Art Festival on Friday, October 26 at 7.30pm and Saturday, October 27 at 2.30pm. Over the past 20 years Louis has worked with children of all ages through theatre and music with many companies including The Abbey Theatre, TEAM Educational Theatre Company, The Chester Beatty Library, and The Ark, A Cultural Centre for Children.

2012 saw Lovett collaborating with the Strollers Touring Network, and the company was the recipient of this year’s Strollers Production Award, an award encouraging companies and producers to make work with the co-operation and collaboration of the 10 venue partners in the Strollers Network. This award made possible the commissioning of The House that Jack Filled, a show that will be a highlight of this year’s RoolaBoola Children’s Arts Festival at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on the October Bank Holiday. Described as a “hilarious family show” by The Irish Times, the website entertainment.ie confirms that the play is “certain to charm adult and child alike” and “as heart-warming as it is rib-tickling - a delight.”

Louis and Theatre Lovett are no strangers to the Linenhall, having delivered the successful AOIFE Award-nominated workshop How Do Actors Play? as part of last year’s RoolaBoola. Now Theatre Lovett is back in Mayo with its latest success, and with it an opportunity to see one of Ireland’s finest theatrical experiences for young people and their families. Can Jack McNally save his rickety old hotel from the soulless march of modern commerce? Find out for yourselves. Booking is advised, by calling 094 9028886, RoolaBoola takes place from October 26 to 29 at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar.
